Scrapbook.TV shows how you how to mount and mat your photos. You can create your own custom size photos mats, which is the best way to make your photos stand out and create definition on your layout. It is easy mounting photos, and we will review how, with advice on placement and cut. Using cardstock or patterned paper to create a photo mat that is custom made for the size of your photo. There are many photo mat ideas and variations you can use including the width of your mat, and the number of mats you use.
What You Need: • Photo • Cardstock • Pencil • Ruler • Paper Trimmer
Step 1
Firstly, place your photo down in one of the corners of your piece of cardstock and decide how wide or thin you would like your border.
Step 2
You will then need to take your ruler and measure the width of your border. Create the custom size photo mat to suit your photo size and the look you want to achieve. Take your pencil and ruler and measure and mark the same distance from your photo on the other two sides. For instance, if your border is half an inch on the top and side, you will need to make a mark half an inch from your photo on the bottom and other side.
Step 3
You can now put your photo to one side for the time being mounting your photo will come after you cut the mat. Take your photo mat and place it into your trimmer and cut where you have made your marks. If you are unsure how to use a paper trimmer, watch the video on How to Use a Paper Trimmer.

Your photo mat is now ready for you to adhere/mount your photo.
