How to Ink the Edges of Cardstock
with Michelle Lindenmayer

Sometimes your page just needs that extra something to give it a lift. It has been said - “if in doubt – ink it!”. Inking can give your page some extra dimension and interest as well as softening the edges to give your page a “warmer” feel.

What You Need:
• Cardstock - lighter coloured piece and darker coloured piece
• Ink Pad - dark colour such as black, brown or navy
• Ink Pad - light colour such as white or cream
Step 1
Select a piece of light coloured paper or cardstock that you would like to use.
Step 2
Hold the cardstock in your non-writing hand. Have your thumb on the top of the paper and the rest of your fingers below the paper. Hold it on an angle, facing away from you.
Step 3
Select a dark ink pad that you would like to use in your writing hand.
Step 4
Holding the ink pad on an angle, facing down towards your page, use light strokes away from you to brush the ink pad along the edge of the paper. If you want more intensity to your ink edge, use shorter, heavier strokes. You can also dab the ink pad along the edge of the paper to give a smudgy look.
Step 5
To achieve a different effect, repeat steps 1 - 4 with a dark coloured cardstock and light coloured ink pad.
