What is it used for?
Using foam mounting tape, glue dots or scrap dots can give your flat pages a more layered, 3-dimensional look.
What we recommend:
There are three different types of products you can use to achieve dimension on your projects:
> Foam Mounting Tape
> Glue Dots
> Helmar Liquid Scrap Dots
Why do we like it?
The foam tapes are quite popular and come in rolls or in square tabs that are pre-cut for your convenience. These are very easy to use and are great if you need a quick solution for your projects. The only drawbacks are that foam tape can compress in your albums over time if you have a lot of weight on your pages, and it can be fiddly when trying to cut it into smaller shapes for fine details.
Glue dots are similar to foam tape, however they are clear which is perfect for items such as clear buttons. They are also more solid than foam tape and thereby less likely to compress with weight. Glue dots are very easy to apply and come in different sizes but would not be used in intricate or fiddly projects.
If you have a bit more drying time up your sleeve, the Helmar Liquid Scrap Dots is also a great choice. This product comes out of the tube in a gel form which you can mould to suit any shape so it's great for small fiddly embellisments that are hard to stick down with foam tape. It can also be heaped up to give a much higher dimension as opposed to using 2 or 3 layers of foam tape and dries clear and solid, enabling it to support any weight.
My favourite:
My best buy would be the Helmar Liquid Scrap Dots because of its versatility - you can use one tube for a whole range of projects with no fiddly cutting and is also ideal for intricate work and all raised effects not only for scrapbooking projects but paper tole and card making as well.
